I just can't resist experimenting and over the years I've designed and worked with some amazing people to construct a number of projects related to photography. In 2009, I worked with Frank Siciliano to build the l000 watt projector you see on the left. This was recently used to project a collection of magic lantern slides at UPenn. The hand-cranked drum is a zoetrope constructed for a City of Philadelphia Mural Arts project, completed in 2011. Lastly, the two photos on the right are of "Bessie" a big camera obscura, that was installed in collaboration with artist Susan Englert, far above street level in a church in Braddock, PA as part of Clarinda Mac Lowe's "Salvage Salvation Project."
